Copal Varnish

A Copal Varnish any of various varnish resins, consisting of the exudates obtained from various tropical trees. The name copal was probably derived from the Nahuatl copalli,resin When hard, copal is lustrous, varying in hue from almost colourless and transparent to a bright yellowish brown. Varnish is especially suitable for the protection of pulp dentine tissue. Copal varnish is made from tree resin and quality solvents. This varnish should be applied in prepared cavities, thus sealing the dentine and protecting the pulp tissue from external stimuli.
